Harmony Theatre and Big Brothers Big Sisters Film Screening December 15th!

Mark your calendars, folks. On December 15th, 2013, the University of Minnesota's Rarig Center will host a screening of five films made in collaboration between Harmony Theatre Company and School and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities. The time is still to be determined.

These films will include four movies shot in the style of 1920's silent films. They are:

"A Night at the Theatre" This comedy follows the outrageous happenings on and off stage at a 1920's vaudeville theatre.

"Rocket Science" In 1926, scientist Robert Goddard launched the world's first liquid-fueled rocket and predicted that someday this technology would allow humanity to reach the moon. The first successful moon landing occurred 43 years later. This comedy tells the fictional story of a much earlier unsuccessful attempt to reach the moon.

"The Princess and the Dragon" An original fairy tale full of intrigue, magic and adventure. Features narration in an homage to the first decade of cinema, in particular the fantasy films of Georges Melies, which originally were shown with live narration.

"Writer's Block" An author seeks creative help in this comedic ode to all the wonderful but discarded ideas generated in the writing process.

A fifth film will feature interviews with participants talking about their experiences with the Big Brothers Big Sisters and with Harmony Theatre.

I will be posting some behind-the-scenes photos and still from these films, so stay tuned. To find all posts related to this, use the blog's search box to search for the label "BBBS."

Hope to see you December 15th!
